The 2nd annual bikini contest ended with Heather McNabb winning the 2nd annual Bikini contest which featured a great card of racing on Saturday. Another feature event on the night was the boat race with 11 boats in the competition. #37 David Cates was 30 seconds from the win until his whole boat was demolished by #72 Travis Stevenson giving the win to #89 Greg Sagmoen.

The Stock cars out of Victoria made a rare visit to the track for an important point’s race. Fast time was set by #66 Larry Graham with a time of 16.994. The racing just got better from there with #55 Jeff Hamstra taking the win in the B heat and #32 Aaron Wilkie taking the win in the A. the 50 lap main saw #95 Ryan Wade dominate the field taking the lead on lap 9. #15 Brandon Carlson would challenge late but Wade was to much as he went on to win the 50 lap main. 2nd place went to #15 Brandon Carlson and 3rd to #14 Daryl Crocker.

The Roadrunner class saw an attack of green cars with all 4 green Leemar cars making the night. Fast time was set by #28 James Buchanan with a time of 18.833. The dash went to Buchanan and the 10 lap heat went to #77 Hans Baan. The 20 lap main saw #19 Weston Lane jump out to the lead on lap 6 and never look back as he went on to win the main. 2nd place went to ##28 James Buchanan and 3rd to #77 Hans Baan. Weston is proudly sponsored by progressive metal fabricators.

The Crash to pass class had an amazing 14 cars take to the track on Saturday with #72 Travis Stevenson setting fast time with a time of 18.949. The dash went to Stevenson; the B heat went to #8 Brad Kotscherofski and the A to #68 Richard Millne a demo truck out of Victoria. The 20 lap main saw #88 Troy Tarbuck dominate taking the lead on lap 5 and holding of a hard charging #2 Glenn Pinto to take the win. 2nd place went to Pinto and 3rd to #8 Brad Kotscherofski.

A 37 car field marked the highest total this year in the Hornet class. Fast time went to #21 Gord Fraser with a time of 18.386. The C dash went to #68 Bill Stidston, the B to #9 Andrew Buchanan and the A to #61 Ryan Jenson. 4 heats on the night with the D going to #90 Carl Naughton, the C to #59 Ted Dimitrov, the B to #33 Tristin Gait and finally the A to #07 Brandon Philips. The 20 lap B main saw #59 Ted Dimitrov dominate for most of the race until the last lap when he got up in lap traffic leaving the door open for #40 Dave Erdman to take the lead and he went on to win the main. 2nd place went to Dimitrov and 3rd to #9 Andrew Buchanan. The 40 lap A main saw 5 lead changes with the eventual advantage going to #02 Daryl Cahill as he took over the lead on lap 36 from #21 Gord Fraser. 2nd in the main went to #21 Gord Fraser and 3rd to #67 Corey Sanderson. Cahill is proudly sponsored by South island imports.

Extra laps…. The Canadian American demolition derby is coming up on September 4th and 5th making its return to the Speedway. This event is also one of our biggest events on the year, accompanying them our the Hornet cars, Roadrunners and Crash to Pass so make sure you mark your calendars for that special event.
