A big weekend at Saratoga speedway was featured by 2 great 35 lap main events and our biggest roll over of the year. Jim Meeres the driver of the #89 Dwarf car was running in 4th position during the A heat when he got tangled with #16 Gord Kraus. Meeres then went flying into the side of a big bus jump left over from our Monster truck show sending him air born flipping over 3 times and landing on his hood on the race track. Thankfully Meeres walked away un-harmed but his car was done for the night with 4 flat tires and a lot of repairs to be done.

The Old Timers made there first appearance of the year with there first race cancelled due to rain. A new track record was set by #23 Dan Morneau with a time of 16.229 beating the old record of 16.319 which was set by Morneau. The dash went to #11 Duane Zeinstra. The B heat went to #66 Doug Shilito and the A to #03 Joe Dardengo filling in for regular driver Denis Morneau and finally the reverse heat to #35 Kail Beck. The 35 lap Ronnie Mayell memorial race saw #11 Duane Zeinstra and #23 Dan Morneau go first and second for 15 laps until they got into each other leaving the door open for #1 James Campbell to take the lead and go on to win the main. 2nd place went to #03 Joe Dardengo and 3rd to #43 Dean Gill.

The Island Mini Stocks made there 2nd appearance of the 2010 season. Fast time was set by #25 Ryan Medynski with a time of 16.969. The dash went to #7 Justin Woodske. The heat went to #96 Alex Mouner and the reverse heat to #33 Mike DeRepentigny. The 35 lap main saw #77 Jeremy Waksell lead for the first 10 laps until #96 Alex Mouner took away the lead and he never looked back as he went on to win the main. 2nd place went to #25 Ryan Medynski and 3rd to #62 Gilles Parenteau

The Dwarf cars had there best car count of the year with 17 taking to the track. Fast time was set by #15 James Dor’e with a time of 15.550. The dash went to #34 Ike Armitage. The B heat to #24 Dave Emerson, A heat to #11 Mike Meeres, B reverse to #24 Dave Emerson and the A reverse to #16 Gord Kraus. The planned 30 lap Bob Powell memorial race was cut to 20 due to track conditions and time. #5 Bruce Garside led the first 12 laps until #24 Dave Emerson took over the lead. Emerson would lead till the last lap when #4 Sean Sanger passed him on the back stretch giving him the win. 2nd went to Emerson and 3rd to #15 James Dore.

The last race for the I.M.C.A modifieds saw there best car count as well with a field of 7 cars. Fast time was set by #91 Chris Beaulieu with a time of 15.769. The dash went to #98 Pat Brown and the heat to #44 Tim Openshaw. The 20 lap main saw #53 Kevin Noble lead for 10 laps until he spun out #99 Tony Johnson resulting in a black flag for Noble, and Johnson getting his position back giving him the lead and he never looked back from there as he went on to win the main. 2nd went to #91 Chris Beaulieu and 3rd to #44 Tim Openshaw.

The Bomber car class had another competitive night. Fast time went to #48 Weston Lane with a time of 18.126. The dash and the heat went to #9 Darrel Larson. The 15 lap main saw Larson take the lead early and never look back as he won all 3 races on the night. 2nd place went to #5 Darren Larson and 3rd to #48 Weston Lane.

Extra laps…. The Canadian American demolition derby is back next weekend. This 2 night event is one of our biggest nights on the schedule. The goal of is to destroy every other car on the track that has the other teams colours. The can-am is accompanied by the Crash to pass cars, Hornets and Roadrunners. Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for students, and $10 for anyone under 12 so make sure you mark your calendars for this great 2 night event!
