BOMBER CAR RULES
No changes or modifications to stock production automobiles or component parts unless listed.
Decisions or interpretations of the rules by the tech. shall be final.
This is intended to be an entry level, beginner, and inexperienced racers class.
If you feel these rules are too restrictive, then you should consider moving up.
SAFETY
1. Snell Approved helmet with either, sealed goggles or face shield. No Safety Glasses!
Full face Snell 95 SA recommended.
2. Neck Brace Mandatory.
3. Flame retardant long sleeve driving suit for driver. Approved driving suit strongly recommended.
4. A good quality high back bucket seat with head rest or an approved racing seat.
5. Approved 3 wide shoulder and lap belts, with a minimum 2-inch submarine belt.
6. Approved driver window net.
7. One fully charged 2 ½ lb. fire extinguisher.
8. Fuel tank other than stock. Maximum 12 gallons recommended. Small truck or marine tank works well.
Fuel cell recommended.
CAR AND BODY
1. Any stock production North American sedan or hard top eligible.
-Minimum 108’’ Original Equipment Manufactured wheelbase. Unaltered, full frame or unibody.
-Unibody cars with bolted in front frame rails must connect front frame rails to rear frame rails, in a safe
secure manner. The use of 2 x 3 square tubing works well.
- Stock original steel body only. No body swaps.
- Retain stock unaltered firewall, floor pan, trunk floor and all other inner panels.
2. Remove all combustible material, chrome, trim, lights and glass with the exception of the front
windshield. A full front windshield must be used.
3. Trunk to be sealed from car interior. Seal all other interior holes in floor and firewall with steel of same
thickness as existing metal.
4. Inner front fender removal optional. If front inner fenders are not removed, fire access holes must be cut in
the hood. Two holes, minimum 4’’ diameter in left and right side of hood.
5. One left door mirror optional. Maximum, 24 square inches. (4X6) No inside mirrors permitted.
6. Two inside windshield bars at centre, suitable of stopping a stray tire and rim. Eight inches apart.
7. Four outside windshield corner straps.
8. High back drivers seat mounted securely. Braced back to the roll cage.
9. Securely mount seat belts. Shoulder belts should be mounted to roll cage at shoulder height, through the
back of the seat, not around the sides.
10. Battery to be installed in a sealed container mounted securely between the frame rails.
If the car is upside down, fluid cannot leak out.
11. Mount fully charged 2 ½ lb. fire extinguisher within drivers reach, in a securely mounted quick release
bracket. Extinguisher must have a gauge and a lock pin.
12. Doors to be securely closed. Weld or bolt.
13. Approved drivers window net. Secured on the bottom, and have a clip release at the top front. The use of
a seat belt clip assembly works well.
14. Hood and trunk to be held securely closed. No bolts. If ready rod is used as hood pins, remove threads so
the hood and trunk can pass over smoothly. The use of “Hood Pins” works well. If hinges are removed,
4 hood pins required.
15. Bumper swap allowed, must appear original stock. Bumpers to be secured to the frame and the corners
strapped to the body with minimum 1/8 thick flat material as wide as the bumper. Bumpers front and rear
to have some sort of emergency towing device. Chain in centre of bumper works well.
16. Remove stock gas tank, mount fuel tank or fuel cell in trunk of car as far forward as possible. Fuel
tank/cell to have either, a 3 loop roll over tube or a roll over check value. Two straps minimum, four
recommended. Cut a 4 inch drain hole in trunk floor for drainage. Trunk floor must remain.
17. Install a 360 degree drive shaft loop 6 to 8 inches behind front U joint.
18. Install a minimum 1 gallon radiator overflow catch can, and connect to radiator.
19. Radiator protection bars allowed. Must be within body sheet metal. Cannot extend rearward past the front
of the upper control arms.
20. No steering lock devices. Mark ignition switch so it is easily seen, and is accessible from outside on the
drivers side.
21. Oil and trans coolers, or lines must not be mounted in passengers compartment.
22. If fuel line goes through cab, it must be in a steel pipe or steel tubing, from outside of rear firewall to the
outside of the front firewall.
23. Cars must be equipped with a starter in working condition, and car must be able to start under it’s own
power at all times.
24. Cars to be neatly painted and maintain a tidy appearance. Race directors discretion.
25. Numbers to be displayed on roof and left and right doors. At least 24’’ high and 2’’ wide.
The use of metallic numbers permitted but must be readable for scorekeeping.
SIDE PROTECTION / ROLL CAGE; Options 1 or 2
1. (A) Minimum 8” wide channel iron (flat side out) or equivalent along drivers side,
from behind front wheel opening to in front of rear wheel opening. Secure to car with a minimum of three 5/8 bolts
with washers or plates. Round off or angle the ends of the channel iron, so that it won’t cause damage to another car.
(B) Minimum 6”wide channel iron (flat side out) or equivalent along passengers side, in the same manner as drivers side.
(C) Rollover hoop behind driver seat attached securely to frame. One diagonal bar from top left corner behind driver
to lower right side. At least two rearward bars from top corners of rollover bar to rear frame at
point no further rear of the rear wheels. All bars at least 1 ¾ O.D.X .095 tubing or equivalent.
(D) Pad drivers door.
2. (A) Inner doors may be removed to allow for clearance of a proper minimum 4 point roll cage with 3 horizontal
bars on left side attached to roll cage and tied together in 2 additional places other than the ends.
Minimum 2 horizontal bars on right side. All bars at least 1 ¾ O.D.X .095 tubing or equivalent.
(B) Rear bars allowed, Bars can be attached to frame at a point no further rearwards than the rear of the rear wheels.
Hoops or fuel tank protection bars allowed past rear wheels but must only be attached to rear bars
and cannot be attached to rear frames or rear body panels.
No bars or bracing may extend forward past either, the front body mounts or firewall, whichever is further forward.
Pad the bars within drivers immediate vicinity.
~Extra bars, bracing or supports may be required. Tech discretion.~
FRONT SUSPENSION
All Bomber Cars must use the Carrera QA1 front shocks available at a cost of $90.20 each,
and Carrera QA1 rear shocks available at a cost of $80.85 each. Shocks are priced at cost,
and are availble at Fountain Tire in Campbell River. 250-287-9291
- All front suspension, steering and related components must be stock to year, make and model mounted in
stock location using stock rubber brushings and bolts.
Except wheel studs and right upper control arm bolts.
- Minimum ½” wheel studs in right front hub. Other wheels optional.
- A maximum 2 inches of camber on the right front wheel.
Determined by measuring the difference between the top the of rim and the bottom the of rim.
- Sway bar may not be shimmed. Stock location, stock mounting.
- No cutting, heating, or intermixing of springs. No aftermarket replacements or rated springs.
Left and right springs must match. Wire diameter, coil count and height must be the same.
- No spring spacers or ride height devices.
- Stock adjustments only. No deliberate bending, heating or welding of any suspension or related parts.
- Power steering optional.
REAR SUSPENSION
All Bomber Cars must use the Carrera QA1 front shocks available at a cost of $90.20 each,
and Carrera QA1 rear shocks available at a cost of $80.85 each. Shocks are priced at cost,
and are availble at Fountain Tire in Campbell River. 250-287-9291
- Stock solid rear axle housing mounted in stock location with stock suspension.
- No cutting, heating, or intermixing of springs. No aftermarket replacement or rated springs.
Left and right springs must match. Wire diameter, coil count and height must be the same.
Leaf length, width, thickness and count must be the same.
- No spring spacers, ride height or lowering devices.
- Open differential only. When turned, wheels must go in opposite direction. No limited slip, etc.
BRAKES
Stock O.E.M. hydraulic brakes. Must be in working order on all wheels at all times.
WHEELS
- Maximum 7-inch wide steel rims. No UNI-lug rims.
- Reinforced right rim. Double plating the centre is an easy way to reinforce, or use an aftermarket rim.
- Aftermarket rim(s) with a minimum thickness of 3/16 steel, and not less than 2” back space for a 7”.
Measure from the back outer edge to the to the back side of the mounting surface.
- No wheel spacers
- All rims to be of same diameter. 14”-15” -16”etc. No mismatching.
- Tape (cover) all clips on type wheel weights. Self-adhesive weights recommended.
TIRES
- Used radial tires. No McCreary, Hoosier, recaps, or racing tires.
- All tires must be the same size. Width and series. No mismatching.
- Maximum advertised width, 225.
- Minimum,(lowest, smallest) advertised series, (profile) 60.
TIRE CLAIM
- Claim, $35 per tire.
- A car can only claim tires twice from the same car in one season.
- Any tires run in A or B main are eligible to be claimed.
- Only tires on the car are claimable.
- Maximum 2 tires, per claim, per car, per claimer.
- The track has the right to claim any tire or tires in the infield, on or off the car.
- Tire or tires claimed, cannot be reclaimed until next race date.
- Claimed tires must be run on next race meet.
- Claim must be submitted in writing to race director or tech. by the registered driver in that class making the
claim, specify which tire or tires.
- CLAIMED tire (s) are to be in tracks possession within 15 minutes of that main event.
- First come first serve. Tracks claim supersedes racers claim.
- No claim can be made against or by a visiting car until car has run 3 race meets.
- Refusal or deliberate damage will result in loss of points or trophy(s) for the night and one race suspension.
- If claimed tire is not run, claim will not be upheld, moneys will be returned.
- A disqualification will not affect a legal tire claim.
ENGINE
- No GM small block 400.
- Any other stock North American O.E.M. cast iron, carbureted produced engine eligible.
Make to make swap. (e.g. GM to GM, Ford to Ford etc.)
Engine mounted in stock location, with O.E.M. stock mount assembly for that engine.
Marine blocks only allowed. No other exotic or marine parts.
Engine block, pistons, rods, crank, and combination must match make and model.
S.I.R. Eagle Rods only may be used. Using stock specs. for rod being replaced.
- HEADS: No GM 2.02 valve heads.
Stock or stock replacement valves. Maximum valve size. GM 1.94 intake, 1.5 exhaust,
Ford 2.04 intake, 1.66 exhaust. Chry 2.02 intake, 1.60 exhaust. Hardened seats allowed.
Replacement screw in studs, guide plates allowed to save head(s).
No deburring, polishing, porting, port matching, sand blasting, acid etching etc.
Remainder of head must be stock.
- CAM: maximum 460 lift, flat tappet hydraulic cam and lifter set.
- PISTONS: stock O.E.M configuration. Flat top maximum.
- Steel fan blade only. No viscous drive, clutch type, fiberglass or plastic.
- Safety chain left side of motor, so motor will not lift up if the mount breaks or bolts fall out.
- Seal right valve cover and install breather(s) in left valve cover.
- No Bow Tie, SVO, MOPAR etc. performance or racing parts.
- No electric fuel pumps.
- No plastic or glass fuel filters allowed in engine compartment.
- Alternator optional.
- Circle Track Crate Engines from Brian McLean Chevrolet in Courtenay, and Tyee Chevrolet in Campbell River. (CT350 350 HP)
CARBURATION
- Stock O.E.M carburetor. 2 or 4 barrel. No adapters or spacers.
- No modifications other than: jets, metering rods and removal of choke plate, (butterfly).
- No aftermarket or aftermarket replacement carburetors.
- Pump gas only. No additives.
IGNITION
- Stock O.E.M except for plugs and wires.
- Distributor swap allowed. (from points to electronic)
- No aftermarket ignition systems or components. (e.g. ACCEL, MSD etc.)
EXHAUST
- Cast iron O.E.M exhaust manifolds. No porting.
- Mufflers mandatory .95db @ 100 feet.
- Exit exhaust behind driver.
NOTE: Week grace period on muffler(s) not passing the 95db @ 100 foot test. $25.00 fine, per
muffler lost during race meet unless accident related.
TRANSMISSIONS
- Stock O.E.M. automatic transmission only. 2, 3 or 4 speed.
- Stock O.E.M. torque converter, no lightweight permitted.
- Transmission mount and cross member must be stock, original, unaltered.
- Transmission cooler allowed, mounted outside the drivers compartment.
NO SYNTHETIC OILS or ANTIFREEZE
WARNING:
Removal of any casting or part numbers will deem that part and car illegal and the part must be replaced before being able to complete.
DEFINITIONS
• O.E.M : Original equipment manufacturer. Standard production line. Referring to the major car manufacturers. GM, Chry, Ford.
• Approved : recognized brand names. Not home made.
THE RULES
These rules state all needed requirements and allowed changes. If you are unsure ask tech.
Track promoter reserves the right to change or modify the rules as deemed necessary from time to time,
for the betterment or safety of the sport.

The key work is stock, as it came from the factory. Not how you think it should of come from the factory.
