A fire filled Friday and Saturday nights at Saratoga Speedway this weekend with the Crash to pass cars, Hornets and Roadrunners. The Armageddon jet Dragster funny car made its first ever appearance at Saratoga speedway on Friday and Saturday. Armageddon is a Small Dragster powered by a Jet engine and can reach speeds up to 400mph in just 4 seconds! The main show is at the end when the Dragster actually lights a Van on fire! If you missed this show, He will be making an appearance at Western Speedway on July 10th.

The Roadrunner class was once again led by #28 James Buchanan, Friday night saw him set a new track record of 18.374 beating the previous record of 18.925 set by previous champ #88 John Bayly. The dash went to Buchanan and the heat also went to Buchanan as he took the lead on lap 3 and never looked back. The inverted heat once again went to Buchanan and the 20 lap feature event was lead by #28 for 15 laps as he won every race of the night for the Roadrunner class. Buchanan is proudly sponsored by island car buyer. Saturday night was no different form Friday with Buchanan setting fast time with a time of 18.462. The dash once again went to Buchanan, but the heat was led by #10 Allias Parker until lap 6 when #19 Weston Lane took over the lead as he eventually goes on to win the heat. 20 laps again for the Roadrunner with Buchanan once again taking the lead early and he never looked back as he won the main with #19 Weston Lane 2nd and #40 Cam Edward 3rd.

The Crash to pass class saw a lot of different winner’s through-out the night on Friday with #77 Mark Stephens setting fast time with a time of 19.489. The dash went to #2 Glenn Pinto. The heat went to #77 Mark Stephens who led for most of the race. The 20 lap main saw a lot of cars brake down leaving the door open for #11 Dan Kemp as he led for 10 laps to take the win, with second place #2 Glenn Pinto only completing 16 laps, and 3rd place #37 David Cates only completing 12 laps. Saturday night saw #2 Glenn Pinto Dominate the field, Fast time on Saturday went to #77 Mark Stephens with a time of 19.193. The Dash went to Pinto as he led all 4 laps. The heat was very back and forth with #17 Mike Whitehead leading until lap 3 when #01 Billy Brimacombe Jr took over the lead. Billy would lead until lap 7 when Pinto spun him out to take over the lead and eventually go on to win the heat. The 20 lap main saw Pinto take over the lead on lap 1 and he never looked back as he went on to win the 20 lap main with #11 Dam Kemp in 2nd, and his brother #7 Jamie Pinto in 3rd.

The Hornet division was once again a fun 2 nights of racing. Friday’s night fast time went to #02 Daryl Cahill with a time of 18.278. 3 dashes for the Hornets with the C dash going to #33 Tristin Gait, B dash going to #58 Dano Bryant, and A dash going #88 Calvin Chamberlin. Another 3 heats for the Hornets with the C heat going to #33 Tristin Gait as he led 7 laps for the in. The B heat was led by #95 Carolyn Thomas until lap 8 when #58 Dano Bryant took over the lead and went on to win the B heat. The A heat was led by #02 Darryl Cahill for all 12 laps as he won the A heat. The B main was led by #33 Tristin Gait for all 20 laps as he became the youngest hornet car driver to win a Main event at 12 years old with #81 Jeremy Stormo 2nd, and #9 Andrew Buchanan 3rd, #33 is proudly sponsored by Marlin motors. The 35 lap main saw #08 Daryn Cahill take over the lead late in the race form #02 Daryl Cahill and he went on to win the A main with #02 Daryl Cahill 2nd, and #67 Corey Sanderson 3rd. Saturday night racing dominated by #33 Tristin Gait in the B division. Fast time went to #02 Daryl Cahill with a time of 18.267, 3 dashes once again with the C dash going to Marilyn Douville, B dash going #14 Kyle Fallowfield, and A dash going to #42 Jordan Phillips. 6 heats for the hornets with 3 being inverts, C heat went to #33 Tristin Gait, B heat went to #08 Daryn Cahill, and A heat went to #42 Jordan Phillips. The C invert heat was led by #76 Bob Fraser flag to flag as he won the C invert heat. The B invert heat was led by #81 Jeremy Stormo also from flag to flag as he won the B invert heat. The A invert heat saw #7 Stewart Lee lead until lap 4 when #67 Corey Sanderson took over and led and he never looked back as he went on to win the A invert heat. The B main saw #33 Tristin Gait jump out to an early lead and he never looked back as he won his 2nd straight B main with #93 Jake Johnson 2nd, and #95 Carolyn Thomas 3rd. The 35 lap A main saw #84 Jake Townsend lead for 8 laps until #13 Jason Fraser took the lead away from him. Back and forth action between Fraser and #02 Daryl Cahill continued for most of the race until lap 32 when Cahill finally got by Fraser to take over the lead and went on to win the main with #13 Jason Fraser 2nd, and #08 Daryn Cahill 3rd. Top 5 in points for bombers are as followed; leader #48 Stewart Lee with 764 points, 2nd #87 Brandon Steen -222 points, 3rd #99 Gilles Cyr -281 points, 4th #9 Darrel Larson -319, and 5th #11 Justin Beaulieu -331. Brandon, Kerry and Jim Steen all raced in the stock cars this weekend at Western Speedway marking the first time 3 generation have raced in one division on the same night. Next weekend July 10th is the Bomber cars, Hornets, Dwarf cars, and they I.M.C.A modifieds. A big weekend of racing is coming up on July 17th as the Katana late models make there first and only visit this year and they are running 150 lap main event. Accompanying them are the Bomber cars and the I.M.C.A modifieds, make sure to mark your calendars for these 2 race nights.
