A beautiful night overcastted a great night of racing with the Car tossing competition taking center stage with the island mini stocks, hornets, roadrunners, and crash to pass. The car tossing competition was a lot of fun with 4 contestants; Adam Dinney, Shane Vanvalh, Jeff Hughes, and last years champ Randy Jerome. First place went to Shane Vanvalh with a toss of 53ft, 2nd place went to Jeff Hughes with a toss of 50ft, 3rd place went to Adam Dinney with a toss of 45ft, and 4th place went to Randy Jerome with a toss of 43ft, but Randy still holds the record with a toss of 65ft.

The Roadrunner class saw #69 Beau Haselhurst dominate the night. Fast time went to #28 James Buchanan with a time of 18.903. The dash went to #69 Beau Haselhurst. The heat saw #40 Cam Edward lead most of the race until the last lap when Haselhurst caught him in turn 4 to take over the lead and to go on to win the heat. The 20 lap main saw all 7 cars take to the track. #40 Cam Edward took over the lead on lap 1 and led the majority of the race until he encountered a lap car giving Haselhurst a chance to pass which he did and he went on to win the roadrunner main with #40 Cam Edward 2nd, and #28 James Buchanan 2nd. #69 is proudly sponsored by Courtenay heating and forbidden zone pizza.

The Hornet car class had a great field of 31 cars on Saturday night with 2 new cars coming out. Fats time went to #07 Brandon Phillips with a time of 18.594. With the car count, 3 dashes were scheduled for the hornets with the C dash going to #55 Trevor Dicus, B dash going to #14 Kyle Fallowfield, and A dash going to #15 Lane Pearson. Another 3 heats were also scheduled for the Hornets. The C heat was led by #16 Joseph Girard until lap 5 when #20 William Boyes passed him in turn 2 to eventually go on to win the C heat the B heat was led by #59 Ted Dimitrov from lap 1-10 as he won his first B heat of the year.The A heat saw #13 Jason Fraiser lead almost ever lap until the last lap when #67 Passed him in turn 1 and he went on to win the A het. The 20 lap B main saw #59 Ted Dimitov dominate the field as he led 17 laps to win the B main with #20 William Boyes 2nd, and #14 Kyle Fallowfield 3rd. #59 is proudly sponsored by Kyte Delivery service. The 40 lap A main was an interesting race with #13 Jason Fraser leading until lap 19 when #01 Kevin Lawrenuk passed him through lap traffic. Lawrenuk led until lap 25 when #08 Daryl Cahill took over the lead, but then on lap 33 #07 Brandon Phillips took over the lead, a caution came out when #15 Lane Pearson went into the tires in turn 4 causing water to spill onto the track causing the race to be stopped giving the win to #07 Brandon Phillips with #08 Daryl Cahill 2nd, and #01 Kevin Lawrenuk 3rd. #07 is proudly sponsored by South island imports and domestics.

The Island mini stocks made there first visit to the track with a field of 11 cars. Fats time went to #69 Aaron Willison with a time of 16.853. The dash went to #33 Mike DeReptigny. Due to a oil spill, there was only 1 heat; #62 Gilles Parenteau led 8 laps until #96 Alex Mouner took over the lead coming out of turn 2 and he went on to win the heat. The 30 lap main saw 9 cars hit the track with 2 others broken down. #62 Gilles Parenteau led until lap 9 when #69 Aaron Willison took over the lead and he never looked back as he went on to win the Island mini stock main with #33 Mike DeRepetigny 2nd, and #96 Alex Mouner 3rd. #69 is proudly sponsored by maximum collision.

The Crash to pass cars had there best car count in over 2 years with 10 cars hitting the track on Saturday. The B dash went to #11 Dan Kempt and the A dash went to #8 Brad Kotscherofski. The heat saw all 10 cars hit the track with birthday boy #13 Tom Dunn leading until lap 5 when previous track champion #72 Travis Stevenson took over the lead and he went on to win the heat. The 25 lap main was one of the most exciting in awhile with #13 leading once again until lap 9 when #77 Mark Stephens took over the lead. Stephens led for the most of the remaining race until lap 20 when #2 Glenn Pinto took over the lead when Stephens got spun out and Pinto went on to win the CTP main with #8 Brad Kotscherofski 2nd, and #77 Mark Stephens 3rd. #2 is proudly sponsored by fountain tire.

Extra laps…. Bomber car drivers Brandon Steen, Gilles Cyr, Ken Hallgarth Jr, and Gordon Schellenberg were all racing at Western Speedway with Steen setting fast time with a time of 19.631. The A heat went to #99 Gilles Cyr, and the 40 lap main went to #87 Brandon Steen with Cyr in 2nd. Saturday saw the best field of Crash to pass cars in 2 years, so if you have a crash to pass car, come check out the crash to pass racing at Saratoga Speedway. The Island mini stocks will be back again on August 28 with the Old timers, Dwarf cars, Bombers and Modifieds. #07 Brandon Phillips won his first main of the year and #01 Kevin Lawrenuk had his first podium finish of the year as well.
